This scene is one of my favorites.  I was out on the water in an outboard rubber-motorboat photographing the Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race when the winds picked up quickly from an approaching storm.  With full sails, The Schooner Virginia and The Pride of Baltimore II went blowing by us, two rivals beginning a race that would continue neck and neck throughout the night.  In the end, the Virginia’s boom broke and victory went to the Pride of Baltimore II.  Captain Hank Moseley of the Virginia told me it was a race he will never forget.
