We lived in Camden for 12 years; 7 years downtown only a block away from this beautiful harbor. We would walk down our gravel driveway, past our perennial garden, through our white picket fence and down to the haba (harbor). :)
Sometimes we stopped along the way to pick up a morning cup of coffee and a fresh pastry as we walked down to the public landing. We’d sit on one of the benches and watch all of the activity on the water and on the docks.
It was always peaceful, with colorful reflections in the water from the sky and many boats. Historic wooden schooners with flags flying high were usually moored in the inner harbor at the base of the hill leading up to the Camden Public Library.
It wasn’t hard to gather inspiration for my art. Everywhere I looked I saw a painting. This particular scene was inspired by one of those glorious moments enjoying our home town.
Our time in Camden will always be close to our heart. My painting, Camden’s Inner Harbor, brings back memories of a special time in our lives.
